Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.
There's no way around it: I love gadgets. Here's a list of hardware, software, and gadgets I use or recommend.
Workstation
16" MacBook Pro, Intel Core i9, 32 GB (2019)
A great allrounder that handles my current 3-display setup witout any issues. Powerful enough to use for local development, although I usually develop software on my home server.
Home server
This beefy 16-core, 128 GB Debian machine can handle anything I throw at it. Used for sofware engineering via VSCode Remote (SSH), and configured with ZFS for local and remote snapshots.
Denon & Polk audio
Silence is golden, but nothing beats some good audio equipment for music playback while working, and to watch the occasional movie or TV show with some decent sound.
Development tools
Visual Studio Code
A great editor with just enough IDE features to make my life easier. Great plug-ins for working with Elixir, my favorite programming language.
iTerm2
The tmux support in iTerm2 allows me to keep my entire development stack running on my home server, and simply connect to the tmux session while working.
Postico
The most user-friendly PostgreSQL client for macOS that I've found to date.
